ND Group is pleased to announce that Bart Versteeg has been appointed as Chief Legal Officer.

Bart, age 44 and a Dutch national, is a seasoned attorney with extensive in-house counsel experience as well as expertise in commercial contracting, business development, mergers and acquisitions, legal and IP counseling, media and litigation.

He joins ND Group at an exciting time for the business following the establishment of its new headquarters in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and as it refines its unconventional “open-door” approach to private equity investment. According to that approach, ND Group is sector-neutral and invests in both new and established ventures, as well as unorthodox opportunities normally not considered by larger financial institutions and traditional private equity firms.

Before his appointment to ND Group, Bart served as Head of Legal Affairs at NexGuard Labs and Nagra Anti-Piracy Services as well as Vice President and Senior Corporate Counsel at Kudelski-Group (2016-2018). NexGuard Labs, headquartered in Eindhoven, is the leading provider of forensic watermarking technology and solutions for protecting media content against illicit redistribution and anti-piracy services. NexGuard owner the Kudelski Group, based in Cheseaux-sur-Lausanne, Switzerland, is a world leader in digital security and convergent media solutions for the delivery of digital and interactive content.

As part of Bart’s executive duties, he led, managed and coordinated all worldwide commercial contracting, compliance and legal matters for the NexGuard and Nagra Anti-Piracy Services and also led the negotiation and contracting for various patent and technology licensing activities on behalf of the Kudelski IP department. Bart performed similar functions at Civolution (2009-2016), which then sold NexGuard Labs to Kudelski.

Previously, Bart served as Licensing Director (2007-2009) in the Intellectual Property and Licensing Department at NXP Semiconductors and prior to that as Senior Legal Counsel at NXP (2006-2007) and Royal Philips (2005-2006). Bart started his legal career as Attorney at Law at Loyens & Loeff (2000-2005), a prominent independent full-service law firm with integrated corporate law and tax practices and a strong international focus.

Commenting on the announcement, Bart said:

“I am excited to have been appointed Chief Legal Officer of ND Group and look forward to working with colleagues as we position our company as a real innovator in the market. ND’s financial credentials, global business expertise and entrepreneurial DNA means we are looking at investments across a range of sectors and welcome partnerships with unconventional business propositions.”

Paul Broekhuijsen, CEO of ND Group, added:

“Today marks another exciting advance for ND Group as we solidify our expertise as a holding and investment company operating in multiple sectors and industries. Bart’s deep legal experience and expertise in business development, mergers and acquisitions, and legal and IP counseling makes him uniquely qualified to take us forward.”

Bart has a Master of Laws degree from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and is a member of the Netherlands Bar Association. He speaks Dutch, English, German and French.
